before. i realize it's a low budget for paint. i've done it for ~500 before including tape/paper/towels ext., so i was just hoping if i went with a different system i might be able to knock off a bit. and i'm not going pearl or anything so i don't have to worry about that extra cost. and you shouldn't need a gallon of clear by any means. you generally need less clear than paint, and i've painted a car with single stage with half a gallon. i've heard a quart is pretty standard for clear on a car. i may be wrong, but you may want to return that before it's opened and get a quart.
